KickstArt in association with The Playhouse Company presents this year's family Festive Season pantomime, Aladdin. Set in mystical Ancient China, the panto package features a flying carpet, an enormous Genie of the Lamp, a Willow Pattern Finale and sparkling Cave of Wonders full of jewels and dragons as well as all the old panto favorites: popular songs, classic jokes, messy slosh scenes and sing-a-longs to delight young and old. Aladdin (the title role is played by Carol Trench, star of last year's My Fair Lady) will be a sumptuous, magical production with innovative designs by super-talented Greg King. The production has been adapted, written and will be directed by Steven Stead. Casting includes Darren King as the wicked magician Abanazar, Peter Court as Aladdin's addled mother, Widow Twankey, Bryan Hiles as Wishee Washee and Ntando Cele as the sultry Genie of the Ring. Frances Currie makes her KickstArt debut as Aladdin's sweet-heart, the Princess Jasmine, while Danielle Perleman is her spunky sidekick, Dar Ling. They are supported by a talented, all singing, all dancing chorus. Dates to diarise are 21 November to 30 December, with shows at 2.30pm Tues-Sat, 7pm Fri and Sat, and 3pm Sun. No show Christmas Day or Boxing Day, but a 2.30pm show on Christmas Eve, Monday 24 Dec.
